I am grateful to live, rest, and play in Nalikitquniejk, meaning 'place where branches are torn off. I acknowledge that I am coming to you from the unceded and ancestral territory of Mik’ami, the traditional land of the Mi’kmaq people  which includes the Peace & Friendship Treaty. I offer deep respect to the Mi’kmaq, who have been the stewards of this land for thousands of years, honoring their wisdom, traditions, and deep relationship with the earth.

As I offer this acknowledgment, I also recognize the sacredness of the land, the forests, the rivers, and the ocean that surround us here in Nova Scotia.
